Olmert and his confederates are out-and-out nutters. Refusing to learn from their past errors; Olmert chooses to offer the enemy serenity. Bestowing peace-of-mind to those whose goal is the obliteration of his nation and people.
Olmert and his gaggle of “Yassar, you were my baby” are not fitting to run a fast-food franchise let alone a nation, especially Israel.
To me, this is out-and-out betrayal to the entire State of Israel, from the military to everyday Israelis. Olmert and his fellow mental-munchkins must be removed from power before it is too late.

If I were a Palestinian, I would hardly be fearless and feel reassured by the comments of PM OLmert or those of Colonel Eisen. I also would not sleep tight at all.

In essence what they are saying is that rather than to come and stay for good, the Israelis are going to come and go, and come and go again at their sole will, discretion and pleasure for an unlimited number of times, and that there is nothing, furthermore, that the Palestinians or anyone else can do about that. That sounds like a pretty "creative ambiguity" to me.

There are no benefits, neither strategic nor political, that attach to a permanent military occupation of Gaza. It will not stop the rockets and, in fact, it will give Hamas two targets instead of one - the Israelis in Israel AND the Israelis in Gaza. It makes much more sense to take control of the 20 km or so border with Egypt, if in fact there is a suspicion of arms smuggling operations.

Israel has occupied Gaza full time since 1967 for some thirty years, and throughout all this time it has been victimized by an ever-ending sequel of suicide attacks, by not one but two intifadas, street stabbings, ambushes to military personnel as well as civilians, at all times suffering a great deal of domestic and international political anguish. In response, Israel has victimized Gaza residents by bulldozing their homes, imposing a taxation system that Palestinian just could not afford, orchestrating extra-judicial killings, denying Palestinian a bare minimum of civil rights and even organizing mass detentions and deportations.

And all for what? Nothing - absolutely nothing. The Palestinian problem is still there, entirely unresolved.

The only two people in the world I can think of, who will greatly benefit from a full Israeli military occupation of Gaza are Kofi Annan and Mahmoud Amadi-Nejad. The first will start again with his pseudo-pacifist rhetoric entirely at the expenses of America and Israel. The latter will joyfully scream 'Death to the Great Satan' one more time and will happily pen another 55-page letter to Chancellor Angela Merkel to point out how criminal and oppressive the 'Zionist regime' really is (as if she cared ...).

You want to occupy something permanently? Occupy the UN and take that orangutan prisoner, put him in a cage and feed him bananas. Kofi Annan is your real enemy, not the Palestinians.

The Palestinians have no political clout, money or military skills. They are nobodies.

What type of chop-logic is this coming out of P.M.Olmert?...And he intends to send the IDF for surgical strikes in Gaza! Is this Olmert's fantasy or is it a fallacy? Why risk the lives of IDF?

What message does Olmert send to the Hamas?...Is it 'sleep tight'? Oh, no! Hamas will be overactive -- devising methods to takeover Israel and kill the Jews.

Olmert has just flashed the greenlight to Hamas and all the Islamists to make haste with their ghoulish plans against Israel, while he is still in power.

It's time for Israelis to 'remake' their government before they retake the whole of Gaza. That's the only solution. Please don't go to war with such a weather-cock! His crowing is louder than his sensing the direction of the winds of war.

With all the anti-Israeli propaganda the so-called 'Palestinians' are spreading around the world -- regarding their oppressed and victimized status in Israel, it is high-time to send them packing to one of the 58 Islamic nations, or better still, to one of their own 22 Arab League nations. Afterall, they infiltrated into the Land of Israel from those nations.

I did a bit of research and discovered an interesting, yet largely unknown, little fact: Arab states provide less than 3 percent of the annual budget of UNRWA, the UN agency that assists Palestinian refugees throughout the Middle East.

By contrast, Western countries cover some 95 percent of the organization's finances each year.

how dangerous it would be to give the Palestinians a state of their own.
